ORGANIZATION – PROCESSING OF MATERIAL

Cataloguing: The cataloguing takes place according to the Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules (AACR2). These are rules that are used in the creation of bibliographical documents, as well as the rendering and selecting the access points to them.

Authorities: For creating Authorities we used:
    • Established Greek Subject Headings – Athens: National Library of Greece, 1991.
    • Greek National Bibliography: 1989-1994 [CD-ROM] / National Library of Greece – Athens: National Book Centre of Greece, 1996.
    • Archive of Established Greek Subject Headings [CD-ROM] / National Library of Greece – Athens: National Library of Greece, 2003.

In addition, the electronic catalogues of National Libraries on the Internet are used:

Classification: The classification of books takes place in accordance with the International System DEWEY DECIMAL CLASSIFICATION.
The tem main categories of classification according to DEWEY are:

Particularly for Hellenic history we have used the 2nd edition of DEWEY Decimal Classification: Hellenic history / translation, development, editorship Kary Litsa, Roxani Fessa, Klairi Lentari – Athens: Association of Greek Librarians and Information Scientists, 1986.
Respectively for Hellenic literature we have used the publication: DEWEY Decimal Classification: Hellenic literature / development, processing, indexes Kir. Delopoulos – Athens: Association of Greek Librarians and Information Scientists, 1990.
